Terms of Service

Last updated July 30, 2026

The service

OBDai is software for independent auto repair shops: reading diagnostic codes from a vehicle, preparing estimates, collecting customer approval, and issuing invoices. A shop signs up for an account and is responsible for what it records and sends.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. Shop owners control who on their team has an account and what each person is permitted to do.

Text messages

If you are a customer of a shop using OBDai and you agreed to receive texts, the shop may send you service messages about your own vehicle through OBDai.

  • What you receive: an estimate ready for your approval, that work has started, that your vehicle is ready for pickup, and that an invoice is ready. These are transactional service messages. They are not marketing.
  • Who sends them:the repair shop servicing your vehicle. Every message begins with that shop's name.
  • How often: message frequency varies, and depends on the work being done on your vehicle.
  • Cost: message and data rates may apply. OBDai does not charge you for messages.
  • To stop: reply STOP at any time and you will not receive further texts. An opt-out is permanent and the shop cannot override it. Reply START to resubscribe.
  • For help: reply HELP, or contact the shop servicing your vehicle.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Shops' responsibilities

A shop must obtain a customer's permission before enabling text messages for that customer, must honour opt-out requests, and must comply with applicable law when contacting its customers. A shop is responsible for the accuracy of the estimates, invoices, and repair records it creates.

Diagnostic information

OBDai reads trouble codes from a vehicle and uses software, including AI, to help interpret them. That interpretation is a diagnostic aid for a qualified technician — it is not a guarantee of the fault, and professional judgement is still required before work is carried out.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
